Embarrassingly N00b question about elite skills
OK, so...if the various skill hunter titles involve getting, say, 141 elite skills...and I'm a Warrior/Necro who's got 35 or 40 of what are a potential of, say 45 total elite skills for being a Warrior and a Necro...where do the rest come from? Multiple secondary professions...?

When you have ascended or became Closer To The Stars, you have the option to change your secondary profession, which is how you cap the rest of the elites.

Yes the skill total is the total of all elites from all professions and all expansions. So unless you plan on getting many Elite profession Tomes, most missions and areas will have to be covered multiple times to capture the elites of of all the bosses in any given area.
There are a total of 291 elite skills to capture, it took me a little more than 10 days to capture the remaining 200 skills after I had completed the protector title capturing all the elites along the way. |

How many secondary professions can you have? I'm a Warrior/Necro, as mentioned; can I be a Warrior/Ranger, as well, or must I lose the Warrior/Necro to take on a new secondary profession?
Again, for a Level 20 guy who's finished core, factions, nightfall and eotn...embarrassingly n00bish questions, I confess. :-( |

Well on that character, you may only have one secondary profession. You may drop that 2ndary profession to gain a new one.

Change your 2ndary from W/N to W/E, W/P, W/D, W/A, W/Mo, W/Me, W/R, W/Rit.
With each 2ndary profession, cap all the elites of that 2ndary profession. It'll cost a lot of money to get the elite cap hunter title. Your best bet is to go to Tyria, complete the quests to get Elementalist, Monk, Mesmer and Ranger. Then goto Senji's Corner and pay 500g for each remaining 2ndary (A, Rit, D, P). This will save you a bit of money as without completing the quests, you would have to pay for E, Me, Mo and R (2k saved by doing the quests in Tyria). The quests are in the Crystal Desert (Heros Ascent [I think], I can't remember the other 2 cities' names). |

You lose no skills, nor charmed pets when changing your secondary, you just can't see Necro skills on your skill panel if you are currently a W/P. Does this help? |

How expensive can the price of Signet of Capture rise too ? My price has already rised to 1k and I still have so many more skills to capture.

I made an elite skills check list when I was going for the title. It's a word document. If you'd like a copy, pm me here and I'll get one to you.

mapping out (available in the "Tools" section) is a WONDERFUL program that helped me cap all of my elites. you just simply double click it on the "map" (yes, it shows you where to go) and it disappears, so you never have to worry about that.
when you change your secondary to say a ranger, you will NOT lose your necro skills. This was a question I wondered myself when I first changed secondaries way back when. You will not be able to use necro skills while you are a ranger, however, if you change your secondary, your necro skills will be available again. Again, MappingOut is probably the best tool to help you get your elites. |

The various skill hunter titles involve getting all the elite skills for all professions. One per campaign plus one extra for getting all 3 campaigns. You get the skills by changing your secondary to each profession in turn, and then capping the skills. You can only have 1 secondary at a time. Once you've visited a "secondary profession changer" to enable a secondary, you can use the "drop down" in the skills panel ("K") to change your secondary whenever you like. So, you can, for example, change your secondary to Ranger, cap a few skills, change it back to Necro to do a quest, change again to ranger to cap more skills, etc. (You can also change secondaries by loading in appropriate build templates.) Only the skills from your primary and secondary professions will be available to use at any one time, but you don't lose any skills (or pets) when changing secondaries. All the skills you have obtained (and pet) will still be available when you change back. Capture Signets max out at 1k. --------- There are no noob questions - only noob people. 1K plus 1 skill point (or an elite tome). Not only does it get expensive, but you may have to farm more experience to get more skill points.
